Kristof Van Tomme is a bio-engineer from Belgium living in Hungary with a passion for multi-lingual strategic business communication and the (open-source) communication software to enable it. He is working for Pronovix Bt. and Avicor Kft., two biotech companies. His special fields of interest are transnational communications, community-CRM website development, corporate branding, sales, business planning.

In a small company, much like at university you never have enough time and money. The last years our lecturer has compiled a list of free online tools that can help entrepreneurs increase their productivity. He has already been presenting these tools on several occasions: gave one at the biomanager course of the Hungarian biotech association in Debrecen, talked about some of these tools on Bio-Hétfo and did a presentation at the Inorganic Analytic Chemistry Department.

Some of the subjects he will cover in present presentation are:

  1. Free online learning on subjects you need as a manager but you can't learn at university: Podcasts, Biotech blogs, RSS and Google reader
  2. Managing multiple email accounts with Gmail
  3. Productivity with „getting things done”
  4. Collaboration tools (e.g. for grant applications): Gdocs, Gcal, Vyew
  5. Free teleconferencing
  6. Social networks (e.g. Zoominfo)
  7. Freemind: an open source mindmapping tool
  8. Interactive community websites with Drupal (a free open source content management system)
